Using Spectran V-2, your computer and a homemade antenna to monitor VLF radio signals

First you will need to build a homemade VLF receiving antenna. There are many ways of construction of this type of unit. It can be 200 turns of a #28 awg magnet wire wound on a frame that is 3'x3' frame that forms an X. The frame can be made of wood or PVC pipe, I prefer the latter. The antenna can be as big or small as you like with more or less turns but a 3x3 is the most common. The pic above is a multi turn unit, yours can be a single loop.

Next you will need a 20' x ¼" guitar cord that hooks up to the antenna and goes to a small black box. From there you need a ¼" to 1/8 cord sold at Radio Shack. The
1/8 plug goes to your computer's sound card into the mic input.

Next you will need to download Spectran V-2. Do a google search, go to the site and download this simple program. More on this subject coming soon...
